THE Painswick Ball raised £6,585 for local charity Longfield, which provides specialist services for adults across Gloucestershire affected by life-limiting illness.

Attended by 350 people, the biennial ball was organised by a team of volunteers in the village, who created a ‘cruise to the Caribbean’ theme and thankfully arranged the sunshine, with steel band Pantastic Painswick greeting guests as they arrived.

A charity auction was one of the evening’s highlights. Other entertainment included music from Halflight and Painswick’s very own DJ DRP who teamed up with saxophonist Steve Twigg to bring the sounds of Ibiza to the Cotswolds. Guests danced into the small hours in a Caribbean styled marquee.

Painswick resident, Gina Griffiths, said: “I am personally very grateful for the money raised for Longfield, knowing first-hand the amazing work they do. As a Painswick resident and as a regular user of the hospice services, seeing the generosity of so many and the money raised during the auction for a charity which makes my life a little bit easier some days, made me feel very humble.”
