The Chancellor Sajid Javid visited Stroud’s Five Valleys shopping centre this morning to find out more about the major redevelopment programme which is underway in the town.

Five Valleys is currently undergoing a £30 million transformation of the previously run-down centre, creating a vibrant new retail destination in the heart of the town centre and attracting new businesses to Stroud.

Project Director at Dransfield Properties Gavin Ward and Centre Manager Dionne Moore were joined by the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Conservative Party Siobhan Baillie. Mr Javid was shown the completed first phases as well as future plans for a new town centre GP surgery.

The Chancellor spent more than an hour looking around the centre and said how impressed he was with the future plans for Five Valleys and what had already been achieved at the centre.

Gavin Ward said: “It was great to have the opportunity to talk the Chancellor this morning about the work we are doing in Stroud.

"We are incredibly proud of our town centre projects across the country and our plans here in Stroud will be truly transformational.”

GFirst LEP is providing a £1 million loan and a £3 million grant for the Five Valleys development. Once completed the project will elevate the town’s retail standing and attract a host of new businesses to Stroud as well as creating new residential and office units.
