EVERYTHING you need to know about the people fighting to represent Wotton under Edge for the next five years can now be revealed.

Residents living in the district will go to the polls on December 12 to elect their next MP.

Four candidates are competing for your votes in The Cotswolds constituency,  where the Conservatives have held the seat since its creation in 1997.

The deadline for selecting candidates was Thursday, November 14, 4pm.

Here’s everything you need to know about the candidates.

Labour: Alan MacKenzie

“Alan was active in the election of 2017 when Labour swept to second place in The Cotswolds.

“He cares passionately about climate change, the NHS, education and housing.

“Committed to a fair deal for all he will fight the need for food banks. While serving with the British Transport Police he helped secure a national pay deal for officers.

“He lives in Cirencester with two children, is a branch chair and was a councillor candidate.”

Green: Sabrina Poole

“Sabrina’s interest in politics started at the ‘No More Cuts’ rally to save Cirencester A&E.

“Later, whilst writing for the University of Leeds student newspaper, she became used to holding institutions and levels of Government to account for their actions, particularly on behalf of marginalised students.

“She is currently a councillor on Cirencester Town Council, where she has been advocating for better environmental practices, increasing social mobility and improving democracy and transparency.”

Liberal Democrats: Liz Webster

“Liz Webster is a Gloucestershire businesswoman and farmer who’s a frequent high-profile speaker at rallies and meetings for the campaign to revoke Article 50 and stay in the EU.

“She was first moved to stand for Parliament after the 2016 referendum and the murder for her beliefs of MP Jo Cox.

“She also owns the country’s largest political slogan, having the words, “Britain now wants to Remain,” ploughed into one of her home fields.”

Conservative: Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown

Sir Geoffrey has not responded yet.
