THE life of a young farmer was celebrated with a charity tractor run in his memory.

Fifty two tractors took part in the memorial run for 17-year-old Harry Copperthwaite Smith, who died on November 13, 2012 as a passenger in a fatal car accident on roads between Woodford and North Nibley.

The event raised £1821.24, which will go to RoadPeace, a national charity for road crash victims.

This year's tractor run headed off from Forthay Farm, North Nibley at 10am.

Harry’s mother Kerry Copperthwaite said: "We had a fantastic day.

"The sun shone and 52 tractors and four Land Rovers joined us travelling from Forthay Farm, North Nibley through Dursley, passed Coaley Peak, up to the top of Frocester Hill.

"We passed Nympsfield to Hunters Hall, Kingscote, where we stopped for refreshments.

"When we left we ended up travelling up Wotton High Street and back to Forthay Farm where we had a raffle and auction of donated items ranging from bottles of wine, bags of potatoes and tools to aftershave.

"Everyone enjoyed the hog roast laid on and liquid refreshments.

"We would like to thank everyone who joined us and helped us succeed in making a fabulous day a reality and donating a huge £1821.24 for RoadPeace."
