Flood warnings are in place along the River Severn in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire.

Alerts have been issued for the Severn estuary from Gloucester to Sharpness and at Oldbury-on-Severn.

A tide level of between 3.5 and 3.7m is expected to occur at Gloucester at 8.45pm tonight.

According to the Environment Agency: "This period of high tides is expected for the next four days.

"Underlying river levels are currently steady between tides. However, further rainfall is forecast over the next few days. Consequently river levels may rise over the next few days."

For the river at Oldbury-on-Severn, Northwick and Avonmouth a large tidal surge is combining with spring tides, with high water forecast to be at 7.15am tomorrow.

According to the Environment Agency: "Flooding to roads and farmland is possible at these times, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide.

"We believe there is a possibility of flooding for the Severn Estuary at Oldbury-on-Severn, Northwick and Avonmouth including Aust and Old Passage."
