OVER £2000 has been raised for the Nailsworth Donkey Sanctuary after this year’s Nailsworth Chat and Information Facebook page Christmas appeal.
Paddy Coyle runs the Facebook group and the money was raised through his JustGiving page.
The money will help keep the animals safe and warm this winter, and will go towards food, hay, straw, fencing, posts and pea gravel to make more hard standing for the donkeys.
More than £1000 was raised in just 48 hours for the sanctuary, which was the initial target of the appeal.
Dawn Cockell, who runs the sanctuary with her partner, Tim Powell, said: "We are totally overwhelmed, in shock to be honest, and we just can't thank everyone enough and Paddy for doing this for our donkeys."
Paddy said: "I am very proud to have helped raise such a large amount in such a short space of time for this much loved place in Nailsworth, and as ever the people here have dug deep to help the sanctuary."
