Jack Lopresti was re-elected in Filton and Bradley Stoke on what was a successful night for the Conservatives in South Gloucestershire and the country as a whole.

Lopresti, who has represented the constituency since 2010, increased his majority to more than 5,5000 and received 26,293 votes in total.

Although the constituency had been targeted by Labour, Mhairi Threlfall did not come close to winning the seat. She received 20,647 votes.

The Liberal Democrat’s Louise Harris received 4,992 votes, followed by Jenny Vernon (Green) with 1,563 and Elaine Hardwick (CMUK) with 257 votes.

Speaking after the result was announced Jack Lopresti said he was ‘honoured and humbled’ to have been elected for a fourth time.

The turnout was 72.88 per cent with 53,945 ballots cast. That is more than 3,000 more votes than in 2017.

Conservative MPs Luke Hall (Thornbury and Yate) and Chris Skidmore (Kingswood) were also re-elected.

Nationally, the Conservatives are on course for a significant majority.
