A VULNERABLE man from Thornbury lost a significant sum of money, believing he was paying a deposit for a holiday home.

Police are now appealing for the public's help to identify a man in a CCTV image in connection with the fraud.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We're appealing for the public's help to identify a man in a CCTV image we're releasing.

"We’d like to talk to the man in connection with a fraud in which a vulnerable man from Thornbury lost a significant sum of money.

"The victim gave a man a large amount of cash believing he was paying a deposit for a holiday home however the man has since disappeared.

"The offender is described as white, with a ginger beard and who speaks with a Swedish accent.

"He drove a silver BMW 7 series car which had a foreign registration plate.

"If you recognise the man in the image, or have any other information which could help our inquiry, please call 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5219022321."
