A POPULAR Stroud theatre troupe returns to the stage this month, with a cabaret show entitled Just a Bowl of Cherries.

The Glitter & Twisted Theatre Company's latest production is taking place at the Little Vic on Gloucester Street, Stroud on three consecutive Sunday evenings: January 19 and 26 and February 2.

The performances will feature the talents of Stroud actress Grace Hawker.

Grace won the prestigious Rosebowl award “best actress in a musical” for her appearance in She Loves Me, the Cotswold Players’ January musical, which was directed by Glitter & Twisted Theatre Company.

And now she is back, with an evening designed to showcase her talents.

Grace said: “This is my chance to show Stroud what I can do. Singing sad, witty, romantic or sometimes just plain odd songs – each number giving me the chance to portray a character and take the audience on a little theatrical journey.”

Grace will be joined on stage by a set of guest artistes.

Glitter & Twisted’s creative team, Simon and Suzanne Moss have chosen a programme of songs including pieces by Sondheim, Cole Porter, Noel Coward, Kander & Ebb and many others.

Simon said: “We are transforming the Little Vic into an intimate cabaret space and inviting the audience to meet a New Yorker who travels the world to meet the guy who lives next door.

"Other characters include a lady who has come to terms being the “other woman”; a man whose boyfriend is obsessed with a Swedish furniture store and a zoo keeper’s pet mermaid.”

Suzanne added, “Grace is an outstanding song-stylist and really knows how to pull emotional strings, so our audience will need to have hankies at the ready for tears of joy and sadness,” said Suzanne.

Performances start at 7.30pm.
