BRADFORD City Women smashed their way into the West Riding County Cup semi-finals with a resounding 11-1 win over Brayton Belles from the West Riding County League Premier Division.

The pitch at Eccleshill was really heavy due to wet weather but the bright sunshine had at least cleared the early frost.

Extra support was supplied from mascots Ilkley Town under-14 girls, who formed a guard of honour for both teams as they came off the pitch at full-time.

After the previous week’s 7-0 defeat at Durham Cestria, it was vital City made a quick start - and they did.

Amelia Hunt, playing in a more advanced position than her usual right-back slot, scored twice in the first 10 minutes. The third goal came from a powerful shot from Charlotte Stuart that the Belles keeper couldn’t hold.

Hunt then got another to complete her first-half hat-trick taking the Bantams into a comfortable 4-0 first-half lead.

City continued where they left off just five minutes into the second half courtesy of a long-range strike from the left boot of Harriet Jakeman.

The half saw further goals from Amelia White (2), a Beth Shepherd header, another from Hunt, a close range strike from Masie Norde and a deflected Zoe Roberts free-kick. In between, Belles added a consolation goal with a fine strike from 25 yards.

The performance pleased manager Chris Hames immensely, with stand-out shows from Hunt, who scored four, White, who scored two on her first start having been promoted from the reserves, and Ellie Prothero, who produced a tireless shift on the left wing.
