NEWPORT County AFC loan star Jordan Green is adamant that he’s returned to Rodney Parade to help the Exiles win promotion this season.

Green found himself in a relegation during his first loan spell with County back in 2016, scoring twice in 16 appearances under Warren Feeney and Graham Westley.

Since then he’s enjoyed success at Yeovil Town and Barnsley, helping the Tykes win promotion to the Championship last season.

And he’s back in Newport hoping to assist Michael Flynn’s men in sealing a place in League One next season.

County are currently 11th in the League Two table, eight points behind seventh-placed Bradford City with three games in hand.

And Green is confident that they can make up that ground over the next few months.

“I’m here to play games,” said the 24-year-old winger.“I knew the gaffer and how he was so I could just come here and be myself.

“I’m just trying to help the gaffer’s vision and what he wants to do.

“Promotion is the aim and anything is possible.”

South Wales Argus:

County take on promotion hopefuls Plymouth Argyle at Home Park this afternoon.

They beat the Pilgrims at Rodney Parade in August and Green believes they can complete a league double today.

“We’re a good team,” he said. “I don’t really follow Plymouth that much, but I heard they like to pass the ball around.

“We go there with confidence as we always do. We never have any fear.”

Speaking after Green’s star turn in Tuesday’s 1-0 home win over Macclesfield Town, Flynn said that the youngster has matured since his first spell at the club.

And Green agrees that he is a better player than he was three-and-a-half years ago.

“When I came here last time, I didn’t really play,” he said. “But I’ve progressed as a player and I know my game now. I’m definitely a much better player now. I’ve improved in every aspect and I’ve just grown up.”
