POETRY lovers have the opportunity to hear UK Poet Laureate Simon Armitage when he visits Wycliffe College.

Mr Armitage will give a poetry reading followed by a question and answer session from the audience at the Stonehouse school on Thursday March 12 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £5.

Mr Armitage was appointed as the national Poet Laureate in 2019. He is Professor of Poetry at the University of Leeds and was elected to serve as Professor of Poetry at the University of Oxford for 2015-2019.

Mr Matt Kingscote, Head of English at Wycliffe, said "To have a poet of Simon's ability, charisma and standing visit Wycliffe is hugely exciting.

"It's a really important moment that helps bring Literature back to life in a digital age and, we hope, will help a new generation of poets pick up a pen and begin writing creatively for the first time."

Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are limited. Mr Armitage will also sign books following the event.

Tickets are available from the Wycliffe website (wycliffe.co.uk) or email Senior@wycliffe.co.uk for further information.
