A COUNCILLOR has asked that the owners of a new fish and chip shop, which is set to come to town, respects the residents living in the area.
Permission was granted by Shropshire Council for the change of use from a shop to a fish and chip shop at the former Co-op site in Victoria Street.
The application was granted despite numerous comments online from residents objecting to the plans.
Comments addressed the potential odour caused by the food at the shop, while others raised concerns over parking in the area and a potential increase of litter.
Councillor Paul Milner has urged those who will be running the fish and chip shop to consider the impact on nearby residents.
He said: “I think it’s important that they respect the people in the area and don’t open too late.
“I know of one resident who said they would be looking to move if these plans went ahead.
“I hope they make sure the litter isn’t an issue there and just do whatever they can to ensure they keep on top of any possible problems.”
