Last night's episode of BBC DIY SOS filmed in Avening left some viewers 'in floods of tears'.

Presented by Nick Knowles, the episode was filmed at Ben Wernham’s house, which saw the community come together to support Ben and his family following a tragic accident.

Ben, 33, was left paralysed from the neck down in a swimming pool accident while on family holiday in Cyprus in 2016.

The episode, which was filmed in the summer of 2017 and first aired in October 2018, re-aired on BBC1 last night.

More than 100 people arrived on the site to help although soaring temperatures meant that the mercury reached a high of 43.7 degrees in the loft where S Court Plumbing worked during the project.

Viewers saw the unbelievable transformation, with many saying they were brought to tears.

One viewer said: "I'm in floods of tears at Ben and family tonight. Amazing. Wonderful. What a lovely family. What fantastic volunteers."

One woman said: "Not a dry eye after that fabulous DIY SOS you are amazing guys!"
