More than 75 people attended the annual open meeting of the Rodborough and Minchinhampton Commons Advisory Committee at the Hub last Thursday.

Attendees heard talks from Kate Ashbrook of the Open Spaces Society on the history of commons, Hayward of Rodborough and Minchinhampton Common, Mark Dawkins, Julian Bendle of the Back From the Brink project and National Trust's Stroud Landscape project manager and area ranger David Armstrong and Richard Evans.

Residents and representatives of Minchinhampton Parish Council and other groups joined a lively debate and question and answer session, covering various issues facing the commons, from wildlife conservation to traffic management and grazing on the commons.

Chair of the Rodborough and Minchinhampton Commons Advisory Committee Ann Finlayson said: "It was a fascinating evening, with some excellent speakers from a range of projects with relevance to Rodborough and Minchinhampton Commons.

"It was great to have such a good turnout from all the communities who live on and around the commons.

"We look forward to our next event, marking day at the Old Lodge on Minchinhampton Common in May."
