ALTERNATIVE music enthusiasts are set for a treat when former world snooker champion Steve Davis OBE plays a DJ set with experimental musician Kavus Torabi at the Subscription Rooms next month.

Steve will be playing an eclectic blend of psychedelia and techno assisted by his DJ partner Kavus from rock band Gong at the Stroud venue at 8pm on March 13.

The most successful professional Snooker Player of the 1980s, Steve won a total of 28 major ranking events including six world championships.

Steve also held the world number one ranking for seven consecutive seasons.

Following his successful snooker career the six time world champion then surprisingly ventured into a career in music.

After hanging up his cue, Steve decided to follow his other passion, presenting a weekly radio show the Interesting Alternative Show on PhoenixFM with co-presenter Kavus Torabi.

Kavus is an experimental musician with a long background in psychedelic music.

Formerly of rock band Cardiacs, Kavus now fronts international group Gong.

Their radio show champions new, experimental music covering numerous genres.

The duo have been on the bill at many prestigious festivals, including Glastonbury.
