The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust has donated £215,000 to support efforts dealing with the fallout from COVID-19 in Gloucestershire .

Money has been distributed to selected charities and organisations that are dealing with the immediate healthcare needs across the UK as well as the wider impact of coronavirus on everyday life.

The donations include £100,000 to the Gloucestershire Community Foundation, which provides emergency funding for small local charities across the county.

Additionally, £50,000 has been gifted to the Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity, which will help provide relief packages for staff and volunteers as well as contributing towards the emergency fund for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Money has also been given to Age UK Gloucestershire and community kitchen group The Long Table.

In total The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust has donated £2.5million to support efforts across the UK.

A spokesperson for the Trust said: “This is an extraordinarily tough time for everyone across the country, particularly for the most vulnerable in society.

"There are a number of charities and organisations that are at the forefront of this pandemic, and we hope these donations can help them continue their excellent work when it has never been more needed.”
