The NHS now has more volunteers to fight coronavirus than it does doctors, nurses and therapists.
By last night an astonishing 670,663 people had signed up to help in 48 hours.
This follows an NHS appeal for volunteers to help 1.5 million vulnerable people, who have been asked to shield themselves from Covid-19 because of underlying health conditions.
The NHS has set a target of 750,000 volunteers and is inviting more people to sign up.

The kind-hearted volunteers will start next week, delivering food and medication to vulnerable people who have been told to stay at home.
