A community exercise coach who teaches up to 200 older adults in Kings Stanley and Nailsworth will be running weekly exercise routines published in the SNJ.

Alison Holding has been working with seniors between the ages of 60 to 87 for over 10 years and has a level 3 in older adult fitness and a level 4 in cancer rehabilitation.

Each week, an article will published in the SNJ which will demonstrate a few simple and effective exercises and routines that can be done at home for older residents.

Alison said: “It’s very important to keep fit and exercise during this difficult time especially as we are being told to self-isolate.

“These exercises can also be done from a seated position in a chair.

“If you go out for a walk, which is a great form of cardiovascular exercise, it would be a good idea to perform the exercises when you get home whilst the body is nicely warm.

“Being asked to self-isolate is very difficult for most people mentally and exercising will greater help your state of mind.

“All of the exercises are great examples of functional fitness which helps you in your daily activities and to live life to the full.”
