A 32-YEAR-old Stroud man has admitted the burglary of a house in the town and stealing a handbag, cash and other items from the property.
At Gloucester Crown Court today, Stephen King, of Belmont Road, who appeared via video link from HMP Hewell, indicated his guilt to Judge Ian Lawrie QC on the charge of breaking into a house in Horns Road on March 6 this year.
He accepted he was guilty of stealing a leather handbag containing a Samsung Galaxy phone, a pair of reading glasses, a pair of sunglasses, a wallet, numerous bank cards and a quantity of cash unknown.
Lloyd Jenkins defending said: “King was homeless at the time of the offence. He was desperate and saw an opportunity and he took it.
“He is upset for the homeowner that the bag itself has not been recovered.”
King was remanded in custody until he is sentenced on April 17.
