CONSULTATION events regarding the neighbourhood plans for both Thornbury and Oldbury have been cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

In Thornbury this included events on March 21 in the Cossham Hall and March 28 in Tesco. An event planned for April 18 in the St Mary’s Centre has also been cancelled.

A spokeswoman for the neighbourhood plan group said: “We have so far received some very positive responses and have been pleased with the number of people interacting with our exhibitions which have been displayed at the Library and Town Hall until their closure.

“We have set up a mailing list to keep residents and businesses informed and are continuing to update interested parties on the work that we’re doing. We are particularly keen to hear from the younger generation who are yet to tell us whether our draft Plan has correctly reflected what they want Thornbury to be like in the future.

“The draft plan and survey are still available via our website, thornburyplan.co.uk. The survey for your thoughts and feedback on the plan is open until April 25."

The Oldbury on Severn Neighbourhood Plan Engagement Day planned for March 28 was also cancelled.

Barry Turner, secretary to the neighbourhood plan working group said: “Depending on what happens regarding social distancing, looking into the future we intend to stage the engagement event again at an appropriate time, so that members of our community can view and discuss the plan face to face.”

The formal consultation will continue until April 27.
