Chedworth community news by David Broad

CHEDWORTH was again quiet over the Easter weekend.

Residents walked round in family groups much as their ancestors might have done in Victorian times before the hustle and bustle of the new fangled Railway besmirched the pristine valley, though one or two residents chose to replicate the smoke of that industrial past with noxious piles of smouldering waste.

THE village hall remains closed, until at least the end of May.

The committee will review the booking situation at their next meeting on June 1.

All bookings during April and May have either been cancelled or postponed and deposits refunded.

Requests to cancel or postpone June and July bookings will be dealt with in a similar manner.

A few booking enquiries continue to be received and a booking for July has been confirmed.

As there will be no hire income for April and May, financial expenditure will be tightly controlled and limited to ‘essential out goings’.

WHILE some residents have been litter picking while taking their 59 minute daily walks there has been a noticeable increase in fly tipping around the village though not thus far as serious as in other parishes where entire truck loads of builders rubbish can be seen strewn along the roadside verges.
