TWIN girls from Cirencester have been pleasantly surprising the town's residents in Golden Farm Road.

Six-year-olds Millie and Bella King have been called the sunflower fairies after they came up with the idea of planting their own sunflowers and anonymously leaving them on their neighbours doorsteps with a poem attached.

Mother Alison Horsley said she is really proud of her girls.

She said: “It was the girls who came up with the idea themselves and the lovely gesture is bringing smiles to a lot of people's faces.

"They were inspired by their teacher telling them to be kind to others, and by their love for sunflowers."

She added: "Each year they have a competition between them to see who can grow their sunflower the tallest. They also heard about the grow happy competition which encourages people to plant some of the very happiest flowers and the organisers have kindly sent them some seeds to use."
