A short film based on Gloucestershire's famous cheese rolling competition has been released.

Independent filmmaker Chris Thomas created Let's Roll after being inspired by the tradition, which takes place on Cooper's Hill in Brockworth.

The film tells the story of Antonia, played by Amy Bowden, as she tries to live up to her brother’s past successes by training in secret for the competition.

Let's Roll, which has spent the last year being screened at festivals such as the BFI Film Festival and Edinburgh International Film Festival, has now been released online.

Cheese rolling has taken place at least as far back as 1826 but this year's event, scheduled to take place today (Monday), was cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Chris said: "In light of this year’s Cheese Roll being cancelled we wanted to celebrate the spirit of the cheese in what’s usually the build-up to Brockworth’s finest hour by releasing the film online."
