KINGSGATE Park in Yate has been recognised for its outstanding beauty for a third consecutive year.

The Friends of Kingsgate Park were overjoyed to announce that they have been awarded 5 stars by Britain in Bloom, South West for 2019.

Kingsgate Park is a recreational area in the middle of Yate, and is well used by many from Yate, Chipping Sodbury and further afield.

Sue Swanborough, vice chairman of the friends said “This is the third consecutive year that we have received this accolade. The Friends of Kingsgate Park and Yate Town Council do work together to make this park the success it is. Our biggest thanks go to Phil Jones, Estates Manager Yate Town Council and his wonderful team. They have been enthusiastic about looking after Kingsgate Park and all other parks in Yate. Nothing has been too much trouble for them, looking after their own health and safety and those of the public. Unfortunately this year the Kingsgate Park had to be closed due to the pandemic and was missed by many people who use it to walk their dogs, meet their friends and take their children to play. The park is now open daily 10am til 5pm and it is being used within the strict limits that are imposed. We do thank those that have used the park adhering to the social distancing. We have not been able to allow the play area to open but it will open again as soon as we can”.
