Unions anger
Let us hope that teachers will not allow the unions to shame their honourable profession by preventing or postponing them from working and further damaging the education of millions of children.
The interests of the children and their future should be paramount.
The potential risk to teachers is minimal compared to the doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers on the frontline, let alone all the other key workers such as shop workers, delivery drivers, postal delivery staff, refuse collectors, public transport workers, military support, police and fire officers, the list is endless.
Schools have to be reopened as soon as possible.
Remaining at home on full pay is no longer sustainable for government employees.
We must not allow the unions to destroy our country further as they did in the 1970s.
