Nailsworth in Bloom had gardening equipment stolen from the Civic Centre last night.
The community group, which maintains green spaces, including gardens, troughs and hanging baskets in the town, was planning to start work on planting when the equipment was stolen.
A spokeswoman for Gloucestershire police said:" It was reported that plants, planters and compost were stolen from the premises on Old Market at some point between 8pm last night (Tuesday) and 9am this morning (Wednesday)."
Anyone who has information or witnessed suspicious activity in the area is asked to call 101 quoting incident 204 of May 27.
