A STROUD artist is creating colourful window installations to show his support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Working with Stroud Against Racism, Zed MacDonald has already completed window designs at both the Stroud Town Council offices on London Road, and at Fourteen on Kendrick Street.

Zed, who is a freelance muralist, artist and designer, is now offering his artistic services to anyone in the town who would like Black Lives Matter related artwork in their window, or on their wall.

"I came up with the idea to promote unity and anti-racism through window art after I took part in the 'Can I use your window' exhibition in Bristol, curated by Emily Juliet Stevens," he said.

"She suggested my work would suit being installed directly onto the glass, so following two successful installations in Bristol I was inspired to try and do some in Stroud.

"I saw this as a great opportunity to use artwork to inspire conversation, engagement and growth within the community.

"I think it is important for an artist to use their skillset to give a voice to causes they believe in, and this work with the Stroud Against Racism group is an example of that.

"I aim to use my work as an opportunity to brighten up the local area while spreading awareness and engaging people in thought and conversation about the issues at hand.

"The level of support has been absolutely amazing and I am overwhelmed by the generosity and dedication of all of those who have backed this project and continue to do so.

"I would like to give special thanks to Kazz from the SVA for her efforts in initially contacting businesses; Kate from Stroud Town Council for the opportunity to install work at the council offices, and James Watts for designing his window at the council offices alongside mine.

"Also to Denise from Fourteen for allowing us to use her window and continuing to support the project, and finally everyone who has supported the project.

"I have been donating my time to install the work for free, but I would not be able to continue without this support."
