WOTTON Travel is back in business.

The Renishaw owned firm, based on Wotton High Street, reopened on Monday on an appointment only basis.

Although the shop has been closed during lockdown, the team have been hard at work throughout, supporting customers whose travel plans had been cancelled as a result of coronavirus.

“We have been extremely busy during lockdown sorting out all of the travel arrangements that were cancelled,”director Wendy Walker said.

"We are still trying to get money back from the tour operators, which is proving to be quite difficult at times."

A portion of the firm's business is arranging travel for Renishaw staff members.

"Obviously we have been hit quite hard with new bookings, as Renishaw aren’t travelling at all, as well as many of our corporate clients," said Wendy.

"We've re-opened on an appointment only basis on Monday.

"It's been wonderful to welcome our clients back and help them to plan for 2021.

"I feel after this pandemic - I know we aren’t out of the wood yet - that many people will feel they need a holiday, whether it’s in the UK or abroad.

"The travel industry has changed massively, mainly due to the fact that many countries are still closed and many aircraft are still sitting on the ground.

"I’m pleased to say that things are starting to move again, however, we will have to re-build the industry and this will take time due to various parts of the world not being open yet.

"I feel many people, certainly for this year, will probably want to stay at home or holiday in the UK.

" I’m pleased to see that UK hotels, apartments and chalets are now able to open, I believe they will be quite busy for the remainder of 2020.

"We are offering the full service that we did prior to Covid-19, so holidays, business travel, flights, visas, rail travel and more. People can email us wtl@renishaw.com, or email via our website, wtlholidays.com, or call us on 01453 525200 for an appointment, or we can arrange a Zoom meeting."
