A MAN has been taken to hospital with minor injuries after his light aircraft crashed into a field near Chiseldon yesterday afternoon.
Firefighters, paramedics and police were called to the scene of the crash off the A346 between Chiseldon and Ogbourne St George.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service received the emergency call at 1.54pm with reports that a Focke Wulf FW 190 had crashed.
The fire service sent appliances from Swindon and Stratton fire stations. More firefighters attended the scene in a Land Rover, together with two fire officers.
Station Manager Wayne Presley said that fire crews had made the scene safe. “The main concern for us was the fuel itself. The aviation fuel was the main hazard for the fire service. The aircraft was in a field of standing crop, so with a day like today fire can spread.
Fire and ambulance crews leave the scene at 3.30pm
