A directory of local mask-makers and suppliers has been compiled to help people in the Stroud area find suitable masks while supporting nearby makers and businesses.

Masks and face coverings for men, women and children are offered in a range of fabrics and styles.

Recognising that many people are facing financial difficulties, some makers are asking for a small donation to charity instead.

Stroud Coronavirus Community Response was set up in March by volunteers to provide accessible, good-quality information about Covid-19 and to encourage neighbourhood support.

“Stroud residents and businesses have shown typical resilience and community spirit during the pandemic. It is now vital that we continue to support those around us and local enterprises as the lockdown eases,” says Susan Flook, a volunteer with Stroud Coronavirus Community Response.

Details of more than 20 makers are on the Stroud Coronavirus Community Response website, which can be found at bit.ly/2DhacBW

If you cannot wear a face covering because of a physical or mental impairment or if you are providing assistance to someone who relies on lip reading to communicate you are exempt; visit the website for more details.

Locally designed posters are also available from the website for shops to display thanking customers for wearing a mask – these are free to download.
