Stroud MP Siobhan Baillie is urging local people to take part in the government‘s Eat Out To Help Out Scheme this month.

The initiative taking place throughout August gives people in Stroud up to 50 per cent off their bills in restaurants, cafes and pubs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout August.

Ms Baillie has already used it when she went to the Frocester George in Stonehouse on Tuesday.

“This scheme is a practical help to the hospitality sector here in Stroud which has suffered greatly due to the pandemic,” said Ms Baillie.

“I certainly want to show my support for our restaurants and I will be using the scheme again.

“I hope local people will join me and put money in the pockets of our local eateries. They need our help and this is a simple and effective way to do it.”

The scheme applies to all food and non-alcoholic drinks, with a maximum discount per person of £10.

In Stroud there are 98 participating independent establishments, and outlets from smaller chains (those with 25 restaurants or fewer).

More than 72,000 establishments are participating in total.
