LEONARD Stanley and King’s Stanley parish councils are providing hot pizza for all children who live or attend school in either parish.

The sessions are taking place on the Marling Playing Field at 1pm every Tuesday throughout August.

"Today's lunchtime pizza event was lovely," said Irena Litton, clerk for Leonard Stanley Parish Council.

"There was a good turnout of over 80 children who all enjoyed a choice of cheese and ham or just cheese pizza, with a slice of cake, an apple, packet of crisps and a bottle of water.

"Luckily, there is plenty of shade around the side of the sports club, where families could socially distance, but still chat away.

"We had good support on hand, with Katie Markwick (Neighbourhood Warden from Stroud District Council), PCSO Liz Ward and a trainee Community Police Officer, Cllr Steve Robinson, Cllr Steve Lydon, the Chairman of King's Stanley Parish Council Lawrie Hall, King’s Stanley Parish Council clerk, Carmel Ponsford, chairman of Leonard Stanley Parish Council Rob Bayliss and myself."

The events are being held every Tuesday in August and are being funded by grants from Gloucestershire County Council and Stroud District Council, and managed by the parish councils.

"The delicious pizzas are being supplied by Fat Tonis and the cakes by Ballies Bakery, both at a much reduced price," added Irena.

"There is also a vegan and gluten free pizza on hand so no child needs to miss out."
