A Stroud-based author is celebrating the release of his 100th book.
Mines and Miners of Cornwall and Devon by Anthony Burton, is available to buy now at booksellers and on Amazon.
The book is Anthony's 100th to be published.
Anthony, who has lived in Stroud for just over twenty years, said: "I left a career in publishing in 1968 to start as a freelance author.
"Over the years I have mainly specialised in the history of technology and transport and as well as writing books on those subjects have worked on many TV documentaries, as writer and presenter for BBC, ITV and Channels 4 and 5.
"I have also appeared as an expert on a few programmes, such as Coast. More recently I have been acting as historical advisers for six 10-part series for the Discovery Channel.
"Another set of books have been guides to long distance footpaths, including the official guide to the Cotswold Way."
Anthony's new book discusses both the life of the miners and how the industry developed from one relying on pick and shovel to one that saw the development of steam power and explosives. It covers the whole time span from the earliest times to the present day, and is illustrated.
The book, published by Pen and Sword, is available to buy for £14.99.
