CONCERNED residents who want to stop 5G internet coming to Stroud took part in a global protest last weekend.
The 5G Global Protest Day took place last Saturday (September 26), and saw protest events in cites and towns across the globe challenging the roll-out of 5G technology.
The Stroud campaign group's event was held at The Beacon on Kendrick Street, Stroud, where 12 campaigners chatted with members of the public about the implications of 5G.
One of the campaigner, Dr Richard House, has started a petition, asking Gloucestershire's political leaders to pause the roll-out of 5G.
He said: "We are urging Gloucestershire’s political leaders to join the burgeoning global movement that is challenging 5G, by invoking the Precautionary Principle and immediately issuing a moratorium (an authorised period of delay) on Gloucestershire's 5G expansion until it can be verified through reputable, independent and peer-reviewed studies that 5G and the total radiation levels caused by RF-EMF (i.e. 5G, together with 2G, 3G, 4G, and WiFi) will not be harmful for the environment or to the citizens of Gloucestershire – and especially to infants, children and pregnant women."
