A STROUD teenager who admitted having cannabis with intent to supply to others has been conditionally discharged and his two mobile phones have been confiscated from him.

Fletcher Price, 19, of Bridgeside, Cainscross, pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates court on September 30 to possessing a quantity of cannabis in Stroud with intent to supply on September 19 2018.

Because he was under 18 at the time of the offence, the magistrates said they would pass a sentence in line with Youth Court guidelines rather than deal with him as an adult.

The starting point for the offence in an adult court is 12 months custody but the magistrates gave him a one year conditional discharge and ordered confiscation of his phones because they were used in the commission of the offence.

They also ordered forfeiture and destruction of 19 wraps of cannabis weighing 32 grams and two other ‘clumps’ of the drug seized from Price. He was ordered to pay a £20 surcharge.

The magistrates said: “The defendant's guilty plea was taken into account when imposing sentence. Reason: Credit given for early guilty plea.

“Offence committed in 2018 whilst a youth.

“Court takes this into account and sentences imposed in youth court after this date and finds that it is appropriate to move away from the sentencing guidelines of a starting point of 12 months and deal with him in a way that reflects how the youth court would have dealt with him in July 2019; in place of a referral order the court makes a conditional discharge."
