Councillors were surprised to be told by county councillor Paul Hodgkinson that the tip at Fosse Cross is to be closed for six weeks from November 2, for essential work.

Fly tipping is always a problem when the tip is closed.

Village Hall committee members explained the aluminium was requested by the tennis club was sponsored by Gigaclear, was professionally designed and cost some £750.

The parish council decided not to make any formal response to the planning application.
