Three teachers have raised more than £6,000 for Painswick Cricket Club after walking 102 miles from Painswick to Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

The three teachers, who all play for the cricket club, suffered plenty of blisters but battled on through storms and blustery weather to complete the walk after leaving Painswick at 5am on Saturday morning.

Dom Barnard, a teacher at Cashes Green, Tom Hayward, a teacher at Coopers Edge in Gloucester, and George Macduff, who teachers at Gloucestershire University, completed the challenge shortly after 3pm yesterday, undertaking a final lap of the famous cricket ground in the sunshine.

“We are delighted to have raised over £6,000 towards our £20,000 target for the new Painswick Cricket Club nets to help the junior, senior and girls cricket teams,” said Dom Barnard while drinking a well-deserved beer after the walk.

The teachers hope to recuperate over the remainder of the half-term holidays and are grateful of the fabulous support and good wishes they received during the walk.

But they aren’t putting their feet up however, as they continue in supporting the fundraising efforts to help meet the money needed for the new net facility.
