NAILSWORTH Chamber of Trade Secretary Sarah Martin has been named as a Gloucestershire Covid Champion in recognition of her work for the community during the lockdown.
From the start of the pandemic Sarah organised hot meal deliveries to vulnerable, isolating households and to NHS and other key workers, helped by her husband John, the chefs of Calcot Manor and a restaurant in Tetbury and a group of volunteers.
Sarah also teamed up with the Emmaus charity to organise the production of face masks and protective equipment for local homes and firms in need.
Sarah was nominated by district councillors Norman Kay (Green) and Steve Robinson (Labour) for this work, after Gloucestershire County Council said it wanted to recognise exceptional achievements during the lockdown.
Norman said: “We wanted to celebrate Sarah’s remarkable achievements in helping the community by giving her this award.”
Sarah thanked the volunteers who helped with the scheme, saying: “Without them, this project would never have got off the ground.”
