Column by the leader of Stroud District Council, Doina Cornell.

ALTHOUGH many of us are working from home at the moment, this situation won’t last forever. But how should we be travelling to work in 2030?

Stroud District Council is running two important public consultations until 16 December. The first is on our draft strategy how our district can become carbon neutral by 2030 and how we can work together and lead the way in limiting, adapting, recovering and responding to climate change, to protect future generations. For more information on how to get involved visit stroud.gov.uk/draft2030strategy

Secondly, the consultation is ongoing if we need any additional housing options and sites, as part of the review of the Local Plan. Visit the Local Plan Review webpage for more information: stroud.gov.uk/environment/planning-and-building-control/planning-strategy/stroud-district-local-plan-review

As ever, the council keeps information up to date on the SDC Coronavirus pages, including all the support which is available if you are having to self-isolate or as a business forced to close due to the current restrictions.

The Pulse in Dursley are offering live streamed classes starting this week. For just £20 between 9 November and 2 December, you’ll have access to 25 pre-recorded classes and all of the live streamed classes. To purchase your subscription or register for pay-as-you-go classes, call 01453 546441.

The Pulse staff have also decided to run a 12 hour live stream class on Saturday November 14 in aid of the Stroud District Foodbank starting with a yoga session at 8 am. Participants will be asked for a £5.00 minimum donation and all proceeds will go to the Foodbank. If you would like to take part, contact the Pulse and pay the donation and then download the Pulse app and log onto virtual training.
