Tributes have been paid to peace campaigner Roger Franklin, who has died aged 93.
The anti-nuclear activist was well known in Stroud, and regularly appeared in the SNJ letters page.
A statement from the Stroud Constituency Labour Party said: "He was a remarkable man, deeply principled, courageous, and independently minded.
"The world is a much poorer place for his passing."
Roger's house in Tickmorend, near Horsley, was famous for it's signs declaring it a 'nuclear-free zone'.
He also declared his home independent of British sovereign rule.
Roger's frontline activism resulted in numerous court appearances as well as time spent in prison.
In 2012 he famously appeared in court alongside John Marjoram, then mayor of Stroud, after refusing to fill in the census due to its links to US defence company Lockheed Martin which won the government contract to gather the data.
