A 44 year old Stroud man caught driving with more than double the legal level of alcohol in his breath has been banned from the roads for 22 months.

At Cheltenham Magistrates Court on November 11, Robert Krawczyk of Harper Road, Cainscross, was also ordered to pay £759 in fines, costs and surcharges.

Krawczyk pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Vectra on Oldends Lane, Stonehouse, on September 21 with 83 microgrammes of alcohol on his breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.

He also admitted not having a valid driving licence at the time of the offence.

He was fined £613 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £61 surcharge.

Disqualifying him for 22 months, the magistrates said he could reduce the length of the ban by 167 days if the defendant completes a Government approved driving course.
