Action has been taken to protect Selsley Common after parts of it were left looking like a swamp.
A combination of cars parking on the grass and the recent spell of wet weather has damaged an area of the common.
Temporary fencing has now been installed, and visitors have been encouraged to park elsewhere.
Stroud District Council posted on Facebook: "Part of Selsley Common looks more like Selsley Swamp thanks to the recent rain.
"We've put up temporary fencing to protect it from further damage and allow it to recover.
"When you visit please park further along on the hardstanding car parks and avoid the muddy areas."
