Motorists have been left stranded after ignoring stop signs on flooded roads in Gloucestershire.

Fire services used a dinghy to rescue a motorist from a vehicle stuck in deep water in Albright Lane, Bromsberrow, despite it being signposted as closed.

Rain and rising rivers left routes impassable in Wotton, Bromsberrow, Tewksbury and other areas of the county, but drivers fancied their luck.

Police have warned drivers not to risk roads that are flooded or clearly marked as closed.

Lanes in Wotton and the route to Pyke Quarry, Horsley have been flooded, with residents asking anybody travelling to the tip to travel via Calcot crossroads.
