Patrick Shearing

Pat died peacefully at home in Painswick on Saturday 23rd January 2021, aged 93.

His wife Mair sadly passed away in 2007.

He is survived by his three children, Gillian, Nicolas and Michael.

Born in Chadwell Heath, North of the Thames, he grew up in Dorset then Essex before adventuring abroad to Northern Rhodesia.

Returning to the UK in 1965, he and the family moved to Surrey until his retirement.

His last 33 years were spent in Painswick where he became a well known and much loved ‘local’. He was President of the Friday Club and a keen Cotswold Warden. He loved gardening and walking his beloved dogs around the Painswick valley, where he cheerfully passed the time of day with everyone he met.

Pat was a real old-fashioned gentleman who will be sorely missed.

Funeral directors are Philip Ford and Son, Stroud.

Funeral in St Mary’s, Painswick at 1pm on 16th February.

Passed away at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital on Tuesday 26th January, aged 71.

Beloved Wife of Edward Holford, loving Mum to Lindy and Sharla and much loved Nanny to Carter, Carly, Emily and Austin.

Due to current restrictions the funeral will be a family affair at Willow Chapel in Cheltenham, on Wednesday 17th February.
