Dear Editor, I find it disturbing that there seems to be no mention on the “Green Walks” website for housing development on the old Standish hospital site of any affordable housing provision.

I am aware of only “executive “type plans. Surely this goes against the spirit, and maybe the law, of the arrangements of the original handover of the land for the benefit of local people and the position at the demise of the hospital.

This seems to me to add to the scandal of the deterioration that has been allowed on the site both to buildings and vegetation.

Is anyone doing anything over much-needed affordable housing on the site? As someone who used to work at the hospital I was only too aware of the benefits to health and well-being of the position, views and outlook.

Shirley Pankhurst.
