Stroud police have arrested a man in Dursley for carrying a knife in public after he drove past the police station.

He was detained for a search, the knife was located and he was arrested.

"Knives don't cut it," Stroud Police wrote on Twitter.

In a separate incident earlier today, Gloucestershire police caught a man driving past their Quedgeley headquarters while on his phone.

The driver was issued a ticket for the offence which means he could face fines of £200 and six points on his licence.

The incident took place three days into a proactive Gloucestershire police operation to stop mobile phone usage at the wheel.
