The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Gloucestershire increased by 149 over the weekend, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 21,489 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Monday (February 22) in Gloucestershire, up from 21,340 the same time on Friday.

The number of recorded cases has fallen for the sixth week running in Gloucestershire:

  • February 20-21: 149 coronavirus cases diagnosed
  • February 13-14: 210 coronavirus cases diagnosed
  • February 6-7: 256 coronavirus cases diagnosed
  • January 30-31: 402 coronavirus cases diagnosed
  • January 23-24: 468 coronavirus cases diagnosed
  • January 16-17: 570 coronavirus cases diagnosed
  • January 9-10: 760 coronavirus cases diagnosed
  • January 2-3: 476 coronavirus cases diagnosed

The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.

The rate of infection in Gloucestershire now stands at 3,373 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 6,422.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 30,881 over the period, to 4,126,150.

Gloucestershire's cases were among the 208,490 recorded across the South West, a figure which rose by 1,708 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
