Over the last fortnight our readers have been nominating the top 10 takeaways in Stroud, and for the next week we’ll be profiling each of them so you can choose the Stroud News & Journal Best Takeaway 2021 winner.

SRG Catering is the sixth contestant we’re showcasing, a new company in Draycott Business Park which have taken off serving brownies, afternoon teas and gourmet burgers.

Steve Raines-Gardiner set up the business with his wife Amy while he was on furlough from his Tetbury job during the first lockdown.

A year later and the couple are selling 3000 brownies and 50 boxes of afternoon teas a week, alongside Amy's job at the NHS.

“I’ve always wanted to do my own food business and to be a top ten finalist is crazy. We’re not even a year old either which is the best thing about it,” said Steve.

“I was shocked. We’re overwhelmed with the amount of support from the local community. I can’t thank everybody enough.”

The business started as a catering company, but when weddings and funerals were restricted by the pandemic, Steve and Amy adapted it with takeaways.

“It would just be amazing to win, I’d be speechless and that doesn’t happen very often. It would definitely motivate me grow this side of the business,” Steve said.
