DO YOU remember the chip vending machine in Bath Road, Stroud?
Stroud Local History Society have received a request to find out more details about the machine, which is believed to have been located near Frome Hall Lane, in the 1960s.
Following an appeal on the society's social media, member Marion Hearfield said they had received one reply.
The commenter said: "Bath Road chip machine was located outside the shop at the top of Frome Park Road, it would be 94 Bath Road.
"It closed in the 1970s.
"I had used it myself. It was a self service machine. I can’t remember how much it cost, but I do remember the chips were freshly fried in the machine and they came out when fried on to a cardboard plate.
"Salt and vinegar were there to help yourself.
"It wasn’t there for very long, I think the chap who had the shop had problems with it."
Anyone with memories, or photos of the chip vending machine is asked to email: books@stroudlocalhistorysociety.org.uk
